The Ultimate Gateway to Central Government Medical Services

The Combined Medical Services (CMS) examination, conducted by UPSC, is one of the most prestigious exams for medical graduates in India. It offers a direct path to becoming a Class-I Gazetted Officer with the Government of India. Unlike NEET-PG which is for specialization, UPSC CMS is for employment with high security and perks.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational: MBBS passed or appearing in the final year (written and practical).
Age Limit: Must not have attained the age of 32 years (Relaxations applicable for reserved categories).

Exam Pattern (Computer Based)

The written exam consists of two papers, both conducted on the same day. Each paper is of 250 Marks and 2 Hours duration.

Job Profile & Services

Successful candidates are allocated to one of the following cadres based on rank and preference:

ADMO in Railways
Assistant Divisional Medical Officer. High perks, railway benefits, and administrative authority.
CHS (Central Health Service)
Junior Scale Posts. Includes CGHS dispensaries and Central Govt Hospitals.
GDMO (NDMC/MCD)
General Duty Medical Officer in New Delhi Municipal Council. Purely clinical work in Delhi.

Unlike NEET PG, the syllabus here is limited to 5-6 subjects. Here is how you should use MedPYQ to crack it:

STEP 1 Master the Big 3: Medicine, Surgery, and PSM constitute the bulk of the paper.
